Private Classes

Adults:

Drawing and painting classes focused on technique. Pencil drawing, charcoal, watercolor, acrylics and oil paint. From beginners to advanced artists, I’ll meet you where you are now and together we’ll create a path forward based on your goals. As an art teacher my job is to create the structure and give you the tools you need to bring to life anything you have in mind, as well as to find your own inner voice and let it guide the way.

Kids and Teens (10 to 16 years old):

Younger artists thrive when they are allowed to follow their curiosity instead of conforming to a cookie-cutter structure in which everyone does the same thing. For this age group I propose the creation of a journal where we’ll explore different techniques like pencil drawing, charcoal, watercolor, collage, acrylics and oil paint. Like a mini “foundation year,” this phase allows our explorer to travel a world of possibility. Once the journal is complete, the young artist will have a better idea of her preferences and together we’ll move deeper in this territory.

Materials:

I’ll provide the materials for the first classes and once we have established your preferences and goals I’ll create a list of materials for you.

What students are saying:

– I tell everyone that my life has two phases: before and after painting classes with Suzanna. With her I was able to reach my life long desire of learning how to paint and bring art into my life permanently. I have learned to SEE the world, objects, colors, tones and space in an entirely different way. Since day one painting and drawing became part of my day to day life, which brought me immense joy.  - Elisa Shellard | @elisashellard

– Suzanna is a passionate teacher with a contagious enthusiasm. She takes you by the hand into this parallel art world and say ‘stay here for a while’. For three years I lived in her studio, in constant fight with my ferocious inner critic, sometimes it was painfully harsh. But besides being a teacher she is also a ver patient igniter. I can say without any embarrassment that, if it was not for her, I would not have my passport for the wonderful world that has opened up to me. If you have a chance to learn from Suzanna, don’t miss it. - Georgia Lobo | @georgialoboart

– How happily surprised I was to realize that the artist who had captured me with her paintings was also a teacher, and one with such generous and accessible language. I am always impressed on how she makes herself so clearly understandable in matters that words can hardly touch. Being in contact with Suzanna is a privilege and her classes changed everything for me. - Karine Guerra | @arte_karineguerra

– The classes really surprised me. The non-rigid structure guides each students potentialities, making them free to evolve within the technique. It’s perfect. - Ligia Oliva Buratto | @ligia.olivaburatto.3

– Painting with Suzanna is enjoying her vibrant energy and her loving generosity. It’s been an unique experience which I will carry with me for the rest of my life. - Luciana Parisi | @lucianaparisioficial

Coexisting with Suzanna in the studio was a unique experience. She’s a demanding teacher, alert to each of our moves but very careful about our personal paths. Always generous in sharing her own experiences as an artist, her mistakes and achievements. She challenged us very creatively, which kept us growing out of our comfort zone. Being her student was a especially enriching experience that feeds my work process to this day. - Lucia Neves | @lunevesclick

Every time I entered the studio I was transported to a world of art, inspiration, creativity and freedom. Suzanna conveyed her knowledge and experience very directly and clearly while, simultaneously, incentivized me to look for my own path, without any imposition… fundamental qualities of a real teacher which truly enjoys watching her students take flight. - Camila Campos | @camilalcampos

I can say without any embarrassment that, if it was not for Suzanna, I would not have made it into this wonderful art world that has opened up to me. If you have a chance to learn from her, don’t miss it.

About me:

I am not a teacher who paints, but rather a painter who teaches. As my student, you will learn my own hard-earned solutions to the puzzle that painting is: two decades in front of a canvas distilled down and neatly systematized into bite-size, step by step portions just for you. As an artist myself, I know first hand the importance of art to anyone brave enough to follow it’s calling. To guide you through this journey is an honor and a job I do with all of my heart. To know more about me, please check the About page.
