Eles crescem tão rápido... só através da pintura é possível captar esse momento etéreo com a poesia que ele merece. / They grow so fast... only through a painting one can grasp this ethereal moment with the poetry it deserves.
- • Essa foi uma encomenda familiar: 3 priminhas, duas delas irmãs. A de azul é a minha filha, Lila.
• This was a familiar commission: 3 little cousins, two of them sisters. The one in blue is my daugther, Lila. 
- • A mesma encomenda, um ano depois. Repare como as mais novinhas que estavam sentadas ou se equilibrando na primeira pintura agora estão correndo a todo vapor. Foi muito mais difícil reunir as três na mesma foto dessa vez.
• Same commission, one year later. See how the smaller ones who were either sitting or trying to find their balance in the first painting are now running wild all over the place. It was much harder to get the three of them in the same shot this time. 
- • Ok, mais um ano se passou e agora elas estão oficialmente fora de controle. Socorro! É claro que eu poderia ter pedido que se sentassem um momento, mas no fundo prefiro a confusão. Acho que nada define melhor as crianças do que essa bagunça que elas fazem em volta da gente, especialmente quando estão juntas. Um objeto se define pela forma, mas nós, seres humanos, nos definimos pelo movimento. E as crianças então, nem se fala. Tomara que haja outra encomenda no ano que vem, tem sido muito divertido pintar essas três.
(Sim, eu fiz uma colcha de retalhos com os adesivos delas! Você consegue achar a Hello Kitty?)
• Ok, another year has passed and now they are officially out of control. Help!
Of course I could have asked them to sit for a moment, but the truth is I prefer the mess. I feel nothing defines kids better then the buzz they create around us, specially when they are together. An object is defined by shape, but we, humans, are defined by movement. And kids, well, even more so. I hope I get this commission again next year, it's been really fun portraying these three.
(Yes, I did make the kilt out of their stickers! Can you find Hello Kitty?) 
- • Adivinha quem encomendou essa pintura? O bêbê! Bom, ele já estava bem mais velho quando encomendou o retrato, mas ainda era um menino. Foi um presente para ele próprio na ocasião da sua formatura. Achei tudo muito emocionante.
• Guess who commissioned this painting? The baby! Well, he was much older when he commissioned the painting, but he was still a boy. It was a present for himself on the occasion of his graduation: he and his grandpa in the truck. I found it very touching.
